Guasha

Guasha means “raising the sand”, and uses tools made of bone or ceramic (though many grandmothers and mothers use spoons, lids, or coins) to scrape the skin until red or purple “sand” is visible just below the skin. Like cupping, this can help stave off colds, and is also used for pain.
